On December 13th of 2008 a very dear friend of ours by the name of Heather Schneck was involved in a automobile accident coming back from a poker tournament in Venice FL. Heather lost her right arm, broke nine ribs and her right shoulder blade and had lacerations to her liver and as you can imagine multiple cuts and bruises.

We will be holding a No Limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament to raise money to help with Heathers expenses. The Tournament will be held at BA Hustlers in Cape Coral FL.

We are currently asking local businesses for donations for raffles and door prizes. Our goal is to raise money for a prosthetic arm ($85,000) and to help cover her medical bills. Any type of donation would be greatly appreciated. Types of donations we asking for are products and services, money off coupons and or gift certificates for various items and services.

I have setup this blog to show Heathers progress and to help in donations for her expenses and recovery. Any help that you can help with be greatly appreciated.

my accident

most ppl have read this because i posted it as a bulletin but for the rest here is my bulletin post...
i havent been on on lately or much because i've been in the hospital. about two weeks ago i was in a horrible car accident. there were four ppl in my car. i was riding shot gun. we were headed back to cape coral florida from a poker tournament we all played in venice florida which is about an hour north.
on the way back, my driver was talking to one of the guys in the back, when he looked back to the road, there was a flatbed parked extremely close to the edge of the road. my driver tried to swerve to miss it, but it was too late. the corner of th flatbed ripped into the car i was in like a can opener down my side. it took my right arm off with it and killed the guy behind me. my vehicle then flipped 4 or 5 times. how i landed pinned in the vehicle saved my life!
my arm was located a half a mile from my pinned body. i had an angel that night. there was a passer by who had seen the accident just after and stopped. her name was melissa and she stopped and stayed with me til help arrived. i dont remember anything from the accident but i know she was there.
by the time i got to the hospital, i had lost 2 pints of blood and your body only holds 5! someone told me that when the doctor went to clamp my shoulder, there was nothing to clamp because i had stopped bleeding. by the time everything was over, i had well now have
9 broken ribs
a broken scapula
no right arm (it was not saveable)
10 staples in my head
a nasty abrasion on my knee
a bruised lung
and lacerations on my liver....
but you know what? i am still here and my face is still pretty... this christmas really meant a lot to me because the only thing i ever ask for for christmas is my family, and i really got that this year...along with the gift of life. i'm back home now with my sister because she'ss the most capable person in my family to help me.
everyone who's seen the van i was in says there's no reason i should be alive, but i am. i aint ready to give up yet. God has a purpose for me, and my purpose has not been served...
God Bless and treasure your friends and family....they might not be there anymore in the blink of an eye....i may have lost a friend that night, but i'm still here to tell about it....
